The mission of the Wellesley Institute will be to promote research, discussion and education in economics, finance and related areas. Its public interest agenda is to promote conceptual insights and applied methodologies for financial management in an uncertain economic environment. The scope spans interest and exchange rates, economic and financial policy, valuation principles, general and corporate finance, investments and portfolios, financial risk management; and cognate areas of economics, finance, law and quantitative analysis.
The new vehicle will assume much of the public interest role of Kiwicap Research Ltd, leaving the latter to continue in a more commercial, consultancy-oriented role. Since its founding in early 1997, Kiwicap has participated in high profile research and consultancy projects, many with substantial scientific content. Education was added to its brief in 2004, when KRL associates participated in the re-engineering of the Association of Corporate Treasurers London based AMCT qualification system, authoring the risk management and financial risk mathematics modules, the latter with its own certificate (Cert FRM). In early 2005, Kiwicap became a publisher under the Kiwicap Education imprint and this role will continue. See the Kiwicap Education page, which also contains the data downloads for Dawn Lorimer’s book Financial Maths for Managers.
The Wellesley Institute will actively pursue an expanded research and development programme, disseminating the original work of its associates in the form of public interest and technical papers, and raising commentaries from time to time on economic and financial developments.
